My Story

It started with horses. Four decades ago, I began riding and caring for horses, learning the deep communication that exists between humans and animals. That foundation taught me something invaluable: every animal has a unique personality, and success comes from understanding what motivates them.

Over the years, my animal family grew. A flock of chickens and Guineas in the backyard. Dogs who became my constant companions. Then came three rescue dogs who changed everything.

From Rescue To Performance

These weren't just any rescues. Tess was a young black Lab/pitbull mix who had been abused so much that she came to me as a vicious dog! Tazz was a border collie/Australian cattle dog mix who was completely deaf! Nicky was a smart and very sweet yellow Lab/pitbull mix. I transformed these three discarded dogs into a performing trick team that captivated audiences at schools and events across the region. Watching crowds light up as my former rescue dogs performed intricate tricks taught me the power of storytelling and emotional connection.

The most extraordinary chapter was yet to come.

Enter Quincy

When I found a 24-hour-old abandoned billy goat weighing just 5 pounds, I never imagined he would become part of the family and part of the trick dog performing team. I bottle-fed him and something magical happened - he bonded not just with me, but also my three trick dogs.

At just six weeks old, Quincy performed with the dogs at one of our performances. Today, he is still part of the pack, proving that family comes in all shapes and sizes.

The Writing Life

Throughout this journey, I was also building another kind of expertise. I wrote and published 18 books on Amazon, mostly about animals. My graphic design background and art director experience enabled me to design and format these books for both print and e-book form.

Here is what I learned the hard way: Great content means nothing without great marketing.

Despite having valuable expertise and well-written books, I struggled to reach the audience who needed them most. My books sat undiscovered because I did not know how to market them effectively.

That painful lesson became my greatest asset.
